Exploring The Area

Mountain biking
Mountain bikers are well catered for at Y Meirionnydd with a bike lock-up and cleaning facility. We even have washing facilities for clothes for a small charge. Just eight miles away is Coed-y-Brenin, home to some of Britain’s best mountain biking. All abilities are catered for with many well marked tracks and trails all starting from a stunning visitor centre – see www.mbwales.com/coed_y_brenin.

Walking
Snowdonia has great walking opportunities for all abilities. Locally, you can stroll along the Mawddach Estuary, walk an old railway line or clamber to the peak of Cadair Idris, a mountain of 872m that we like to call our back garden. Famous walks in the area include The Precipice, The Torrent and New Torrent. We are happy to provide a packed lunch at a reasonable charge for those out for a full day. For more walking see www.walking.visitwales.com.

Ty Siamas

In the very heart of Dolgellau lies the superb National Centre for Welsh Folk Music. Opened in 2007, the centre plays host to an ever changing line up of musicians from many different musical backgrounds and styles.

Touring
Those simply passing through Snowdonia are just as welcome as those enjoying short breaks here. We provide a comfortable stopover after a long drive, on the way to or from a Holyhead ferry or for those heading for hotspots such as Betws-y-Coed or West Wales’ seaside towns.

Steam railways
There are 13 steam railways within an hour’s drive of the hotel. They provide a chance to turn back the clock and take a leisurely journey through some of Britain’s most stunning scenery. For more details see www.greatlittletrainsofwales.co.uk.
