A classic Georgian townhouse, Y Meirionnydd revels in its historic roots, giving it a tangible sense of place in this proudly Welsh town.

The townhouse is a fine Grade Two Listed building, one of Dolgellau’s most prominent landmarks. Stunning period features are blended beautifully with contemporary twists. There are large Georgian windows, low beams, uneven floors – and a warm welcome.

Formerly The Clifton House Hotel, the building is undergoing a rebirth as Y Meirionnydd. Having started in January 2010 we have embarked on a gradual refurbishment of the interiors to bring all our rooms up to a superior standard as well as creating a whole new lounge bar area on the ground floor and a stunning  restaurant in the cellar. Following on from the interior the  exterior will have a complete restoration in the autumn. We will be keeping our existing superior rooms open during the period and aim to finish all works by the end of March. Please call us to find out the latest news or check on the website.

Its name is taken from the area’s historic county that never really went away … and that will now live on forever.

The town of Dolgellau nestles in the foothills of Snowdonia’s dramatic Cadair Idris mountain range. Seemingly hewn from a single huge piece of granite - topped with local slate – the town is superbly situated for those wishing to explore the hills, rivers and forests of North and Mid Wales.
