This is fantastic walking country, from a stroll along the Mawddach Estuary following the old railway to Barmouth, to climbing the peak of Cadair Idris. We are happy to provide a packed lunch for guests out for a full day.
Mountain bikers are well catered for at Y Meirionnydd with a bike lock-up and cleaning facility. Just eight miles away is Coed-y-Brenin, home to some of Britain’s best mountain biking. We are also at the crossroads of the main North/South route in Wales making us an ideal stopover for road bikers.
At the head of The Mawddach Estuary, Dolgellau is only a few miles from the sea with the coastal towns of Aberdyfi, Harlech and Cricieth within easy reach. The coast is also home to some of our most spectacular castles, real castles with real history in their stones.
Those simply passing through Snowdonia are just as welcome as those enjoying short breaks here. We provide a comfortable stopover on the way to or from a Holyhead ferry or for those simply passing through.
Formally the county town of Meirionnydd, Dolgellau is the main crossroads for North and Mid Wales to the South and beyond. Keep in touch with our free Wi-Fi either in the lounge or your room's desk.
